Abraham was a great man who found favor upon the eyes of God. That aside he had a very heavy burden on his shoulders. He was growing old, but more to it his beautiful wife Sarai was also in her old age, meaning her chance of siring a child was almost zero.
Sarah devised a plan for her husband to have an heir to his wealth and thus gave him her maidservant Haggai to sleep with him and they got child, Ishmael.
Chapter 21:1~ And the lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did to Sarah as he had spoken.
2~ For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.
So the Lord did to Abraham as he had told them, and this now was the beginning of trouble in paradise. A promised child, born of Sarah and the legitimate heir to Abraham’s‘ wealth and as expected supremacy battle knocked in and Sarah couldn’t stomach the sight of Haggai nor her child, whom it was her noble idea to get. And she ordered Abraham to have them on their way.
As a father Abraham was fond of his children but now he’s faced with a tough decision to make, to chase way his first born son. This was tough decision for him to make and the Lord saw his heart grieving and he visited him and encouraged him to do as he was instructed by his wife.
Gen, 21:12~ And God said unto Abraham, let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman, in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Abraham faced a tough time handling this tough change that was inevitable, and he had to let it go because God told him that its through Isaac that his seed shall be called. Sarah on the other hand though she could help God with His plans by giving Haggai to his husband to sire him an heir.
God plans can never be put on hold, you can ask Jonah if you doubt this . .
Many a time as a people we usually find ourselves in situations that are difficult and that always require our judgement and many a times our judgement always hinder the blessings that the Lord has for us.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO APPRECIATE DIFFICULT CHANGE?
1). FAITH IN GOD.
Changes are inevitable, in our day to day lives, thing usually take different turn, going in ways we didn’t anticipate. How we react to this changes and uncertainties in life shows our spiritual maturity. If we believe in God he will effeminately bless us with so many things.~ Mark 11:22
2). OBEDIENCE OF GODS VOICE.
God asked Abraham to do as his wife had instructed him to do, chasing away Haggai and her son, though it was hard on him, he hearkened to Gods voice and chased them way.
What things in your life is God asking you to release but you are still holding unto them?
God has given unto us a free will to decide and its out duty to choose wisely.
Isaiah 1:18-20
Abraham obeyed Gods instructions fully and didn’t question His instructions.
Its my prayer that we may have such trust in the Lord, knowing its tough on our side but accepting to follow and obey Him for He is our God and He knows the beginning even from the end.
May the grace of the Lord be sufficient to us as we seek his favor to guide us in trusting our lives in his hands.
Praise the name of our lord Jesus Christ. I trust that the grace of our Lord has been sufficient to us all and i want to welcome you to another exciting commentary about those who completely trust in the lord Jesus Christ.
The bible reminds us of an important aspect of our lives, TRUST . Many a times in our daily life routine we have things or people who when we ran into an issue, they are the first people we resort to seek help from. Most of them maybe our closest friends ,relatives, church members, our pastors, spouses, children, our bosses and many of them that i cant list them all. Life has a way of making a series of patterns and occurrences where once we get help, from certain persons, we tend to give them a high esteem and always will run to them whenever we get ourselves into trouble. This slowly builds the trust we have on them that whenever so and so are around then we seem to be relaxed because we have a sense of trust in them to solve all of our problems.
The bible in Jeremiah warns of the things that will befall those who put their trust completely in men and what will become of those who put their trust in the almighty God.
5 Thus saith the LORD: Cursed be the man that trusteth in man,and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.
Well, have you ever wondered why things always fail to work for you? ever wondered why those investors keep pulling out of the deal when everything seem to be in place? ever wondered why things just collapse when it nears the final stage? Is your guess as good as mine? YES, CHANCES ARE IT ALL HAS TO DO WITH WHO YOU HAVE TRUSTED! The Lord is not a man that He can lie, if you go against His principals, then you have to deal with the consequences. CURSED is any man that has put their trust in men, cursed is he who trust that when trouble comes they have someone who by just a snap of the finger, all their problems disappear.
The Lord is against such people and this curse can only be broken by them going back to Him.
6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh: but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,in a salt land and not inhabited.
The bible warns that this person will be like a heath in the desert, owning nothing, no investments, no lucrative business deals no nothing good coming his way, inhabiting unproductive salt rich wilderness. All this is for anyone of us who will put their trust in men and not in the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a choice to make good people, let not the pressure of life push you into making decisions that are irrational. The Lord God is faithful,He is on the door knocking…are you ready to open your heart and welcome him in?.
7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruits.
The Lord delights in a man who completely has his trust in Him, one whose hope is in the Lord. He compares that person with a tree that is planted by the waters,(clearly the soil has all the nutrients it needs for a proper growth of anything planted thereby). He is likened to a tree that will never have its leaves wither nor shed to allow circumstances, they shall be green in all seasons giving forth fruits for the conditions is right all through. The Lord delights with such a person, my question is this today, are you willing to let the Lord worry for your problems? are you ready to trust God completely to a point of being laughed upon by worldly people? are you ready to be called names for your complete trust in the Lord?
God knew us even before we were formed in our mothers womb. He has good plans for us, the question is brethren, where our trust at? It is my humble request that we should let our worries be of the Lord, let us completely trust in Him and he will surely plant us in His ever flowing grace.
May the keep you and may the desires of your hearts be met by He who searches our hearts.
The servant of God James is asking a very simple question but one that carries a lot of weight. Who among us can attest that they haven’t been afflicted?(but the real question is, how many people are crying because of our wrong doings to them?)….many of us are even contemplating on how to revenge, but here is a big question, are you ready to pray? are you ready to look at that persons face and say to them i have forgiven you?
Without the grace of the Lord working in us, many a times we lie to ourselves that we have let it go, but deep down we know that its not yet over, We have that voice telling us they must feel what i felt. So how then do i pray? Is there a way i can seek Gods intervention and let it go?
16: Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
The only way to have all the heavy burden of forgiveness off your chest is by first dealing with yourself. How now? We have to agree that we are not perfect ourselves, and there are things we have done that are against Gods will, unless we come out clean in our conscience, then the devil will have a foothold to counter our prayers. Once we seek the Lord to forgive our iniquities by confessing our sins to one another, we are assured of HEALING.
Once our burdens are taken care of then its easy for us to forgive knowing we were once in such a situation and through Gods grace our sins were forgiven and we received healing and the grace to let it go.
Brethren, the Lord is merciful, lets seek him and strive so much to first working on ourselves so that we may be in a position to change others through the grace of God working in us.
1 Peter 2:12~ Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Always remember its starts with you, before everything ask yourself, is anyone in trouble because of my actions?
May the peace of God which passes all understanding be with us.
